Dave was musing to himself one morning, while tending to his garden:
“You know, with how amazing this universe is, I sometimes wish I could ask God some questions.”
In that moment, Dave was startled by a bevening voice that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere. “Go ahead, my child. Ask me a question”
Dave nearly spilled his coffee as he looked around bewildered. “W-who said that?”
The transcendent voice spoke again, “I am the one you refer to as God. The alpha and omega. I am everywhere and everywhen.”
Dave’s jaw dropped. He couldn’t believe what he was experiencing. “No way…God? THE God? You’re…you’re real?”
“As real as can be,” the voice resonated. “I am the beginning and the end. Ask me anything.”
Regaining his composure, Dave decided to put this ethereal entity to the test.
“Okay, umm…is it true that to you, a billion years is like just a single second?”
“That is correct,” God’s voice belowed. “For I am infinite and eternal. A billion of your human years is but a blink of my eye.”
Dave was floored but pressed on.
“And…and is it also true that a billion dollars is like just a penny to you? As the master of infinite wealth?”
“Indeed,” God affirmed. “All the riches of the universe are as trivial as a penny in my realm.”
Barely able to process this revelation, Dave’s mind raced with a cheeky request.
“Whoa…okay then hey, no offense but…can I have a penny?”
There was a lingering pause before God’s voice returned with an unmistakable sense of amusement.
“A penny you say? …Sure, just give me a second.”
