David’s demands in his first big job interview got a stunning reply from his snarky potential boss.
As he walked into the job interview, he was greeted by the interviewer, Sandra.
“David Stevens, nice to meet you,” Sandra said, extending her hand with a warm smile. “Have a seat and make yourself comfortable.”
David sat obediently.
Sandra spent the next 45 minutes peppering him with a series of increasingly challenging questions, all of which David answered with the utmost professionalism and expertise.
Finally, Sandra terminated the interview and folded her hands saying:
“Well David, what are your salary expectations?”
David had anticipated this moment and tried his best to assume a confident demeanor as he responded.
“For a role of this caliber, I would expect a starting salary in the region of $125,000 per year, depending upon the benefits package.”
Sandra arched an eyebrow curiously.
“I see. Well, what would you say to a package that includes 5 weeks paid vacation, 14 paid holidays, premium medical/dental/vision coverage, a generous 401k retirement plan with company matching up to 50% of your salary…and we’ll even throw in a brand new red Corvette leased for you every 2 years?”
David’s eyes went saucers. He sat up ram-rod straight, barely able to contain his astonishment.
“W-wow! You’re not kidding me, are you? That’s an incredible offer!”
Sandra maintained her casual expression betraying no hint of jest.
“Of course I am kidding, kid. But hey, you started it!”
