Where is God?

a priest talking to a boy in a church

No two children were more notorious for causing mischief than best friends Timmy and Joey.

However, even the residents of Oakwood were shocked when items started going missing from the local church.

One Sunday, Father Michael’s solid gold crucifix disappeared from the altar.

The next week, the entire bowl of blessed holy water had been drained.

Bibles, candlesticks, you name it – nothing seemed off limits to the thieves.

Naturally, suspicions turned to Timmy and Joey as the perpetrators behind the rash of church disappearances.

The next day, Father caught young Timmy trespassing on the church grounds, Red-handed, Timmy froze like a deer in headlights as the priest loomed over him.

“You ought to be ashamed of yourself, young man!” Father Michael bellowed, his face turning beet red. “Where is God?!”

Timmy looked around nervously, utterly confused by the priest’s accusation.

“W-what? I don’t know what you mean, Father…”

The boy’s eyes widened with panic and bewilderment. Somehow the priest had gotten wind that the ultimate theft had occurred – the being of God himself had been kidnapped!

Timmy let out a yelp and took off running, tears streaming down his face.

He ran and ran, not stopping until he reached his house and hid trembling in a closet, his mind racing.

Eventually, Joey came looking for his best friend and partner in crime.

He checked all their usual hiding spots before hearing faint cries coming from a hall closet.

Joey creaked open the door to find Timmy in the fetal position.

“Timmy? What’s wrong, pal?” Joey asked with concern.

Timmy looked up with reddened eyes.

“J-Joey…we’re in b-big trouble now!” he whimpered.

“We’re in trouble now! God is missing and they think we kidnapped him!”
