Math teachers can be full of surprises, and some love to keep their students on their toes with clever pranks.
This Math teacher took it to the next level!
The Prank
This teacher meticulously planned his prank in advance. His lecture slides are actually a video, and the video “interacts” with the real math teach, as if it’s responding to him in real time.
For this to work, of course, it needs perfect timing – surely, he practiced it plenty in advance!

Other Math Teacher Prank Ideas
1. The Pop Quiz
One common trick is when the teacher pretends to give an impossibly hard pop quiz. The teacher walks in looking serious, hands out a quiz full of advanced, baffling math problems, and tells the class they only have a few minutes to finish. You can see the panic spread as students scramble to figure out what’s going on.
2. The Broken Calculator
Another favorite prank math teachers pull is the old “broken calculator” trick. They might rig a calculator to give the wrong answers or sneakily mess with the settings so that every calculation comes out wrong. When a student complains that their answer doesn’t seem right, the teacher acts confused, playing along with the joke as more students chime in, wondering what’s going on. Eventually, the teacher lets the class in on the joke, showing them how they rigged the calculator. It’s a fun way to remind students to double-check their work and not rely too heavily on technology!
